After having surpassed the challenging yet enriching Continuous Improvement (CI) Journey for seven (7) months, RO2’s CI Team had finally reached the zenith – i.e., the highly-anticipated CI Cluster Symposium and Graduation Rites. Passing through the proverbial “eye of a needle,” the CI Team members had been entitled to receive their hard-earned certificates, at last.
The momentous CI Symposium and Graduation Ceremonies took place at Plaza del Norte Convention Center, Ilocos Norte on April 21-22, 2016. It was participated in by one-hundred twenty (120) CI advocates from Regions 1, 2 & Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Twenty-four (24) able CI Teams underwent a series of rigorous coaching sessions as prerequisite to earning the symbolic CI graduation pins and completion certificates.
During the Symposium, three (3) CI Projects were presented in plenary while the other CI Projects were presented in the concurrent break-out sessions. High-ranking DepEd officials including the Regional Directors (RDs), Assistant Regional Directors (ARDs), Schools Division Superintendents (SDSs) of Regions 1, 2 & CAR also attended the said Symposium for them to be apprised with the various CI projects.
Dr. Estela L. Cariño, Regional Director and Dr. Benjamin D. Paragas, Assistant Regional Director, likewise exhibited their all-out support and steadfast assistance to all the CI Teams of Region 2.
Moreover, Mr. Greg Ryan-Gadsden, Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) Team Leader, graced the CI Symposium by inspiring all the attendees with his moving and engrossing message.
The CI Symposium ended successfully through the seamless orchestration of Miss Ruth Gerochi and Mr. Ronaldo V. Polancos, BEST CI Specialists, together with the highly-competent CI Coaches, CI Practitioners and all the CI organizers.
Prior to the CI Symposium and Graduation, RO2’s CI Team attended the CI Training at Baguio City on September 21-25, 2015, championing the culture of continuous improvement and incessant learning as spelled out in the DepED’s Vision and Mission statement.
The DepED’s CI is a comprehensive and structured approach to ensure quality education through ongoing refinements in curriculum and organizational processes in response to continuous feedback of learners and key stakeholders.
Consequently, the CI Team members of the Regional Office namely: Dr. Bervy Domingo, Dr. Miraflor Mariano, Dr. Joe Poblete, Dr. Laila Taguinod, Dr. Dennis John M. Espinoza embarked on a pilot project entitled “Project TSEK (Tracking System and Evaluation Key)” which aims to improve the processes of Government Permit Issuance to Private Schools.
Committed to pursue the RO2’s 7-month CI journey, the team members underwent a series of coaching and mentoring sessions in different venues within the region which lasted for 7 months. This CI Project Coaching had been conscientiously conducted to quality assure and polish the team’s outputs and deliverables geared towards the realization of RO2’s CI project.
Indeed, after hurdling the test of commitment, mental toughness and patience, RO2’s CI Project has become the living testament of the CI Team’s countless struggles to reach the pinnacle of triumph. Nevertheless, this journey doesn’t stop here. This might be the end of the CI journey, but it definitely marks the start of another CI voyage. After all, the story starts at the end.
